The first item on God’s Christmas Wish-list
I remember when each of our two Children was born. I remember the first thing I did when they placed little Alex and baby Candice in my arms. Renate was still being attended to by the staff. The pediatrician had barely cut the cord and wrapped the baby. Renate’s dazed smile as she heard their first cry was still on her face. Before Doctors, pediatricians or nurses could stop me, I ran out the door, down the hall and out to the waiting room to show my child to those who had come to the hospital. I could not wait to display my son to the world. During the oohs and ahs, my mother asked me how Renate was doing. “Oh that’s right, Renate!!!” I raced back to the delivery room. It occurs to me that God himself, once Mary had given birth to His Son, sent the angels “running out the door, down the hall” to tell the shepherds that His Son had been born. On that night, God’s first item of business was to make His Son’s birth known to the world. “For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ The Lord.” What gift can I give back to my Father in Heaven this Christmas? At the top of His wish-list: make His Son known!!!
A word from our Pastor
“As pastor from Doug’s sending church, I wanted to explain a need that the Reiners are currently facing. Doug and Renate are currently on furlough and Lord willing will return to the field in the spring of 2012. Due to economic challenges facing some supporting churches and individuals and due to the decline of the American dollar and the continued cost of inflation, the Reiners find themselves lacking approximately 17% of their monthly support. Having examined their very modest budget, I do not believe it would be wise for them to cut any more out of their budget. Please join me in praying for this financial need. And on behalf of all of the members at First Baptist Church of Hamburg, thank you for partnering with us in the wonderful privilege of supporting Doug and Renate in their ministry in North East Brazil. We look forward to seeing how our great God will provide!”

Come on down for a Test Drive
Much of this furlough has been spent recruiting for the next installment of Aventura Brasil, July 10-31, 2012. It appears we will have at least 15 participants from different parts of the country. What a thrill to once again expose these young people to the work of missions and the joy of sharing the good news to those that have no hope. We see Aventura Brasil as another tool used by God to call a person into full time missions in Northeast Brazil. Those in car sales would most likely confirm; if you can put a client behind the wheel, the chances of him buying the car will increase. Think of missions as a vehicle on a sales lot. Aventura Brasil is the “test drive”. Come down and see what it’s like to “get behind the wheel.” It’s not too late if you or someone you know would still like to be a part of this missions experience. Go to www.aventurabrasil.org.
She’s still on our mind
We are so grateful to those who have taken such an interest and active role in my mother’s well-being at this stage in her life. She struggles much and cannot seem to adapt to the nursing home environment. Along with the siblings, we feel some sort of change is warranted in the near future. We feel it better if she moved closer to one of her children once we head back to Brazil. Thank you for your prayers. We take comfort in the fact that "the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealled in us" (Rm. 8:18)
